Photos Of The Day: New Zagreb Airport Terminal Update &...Skating In Pula

Well, all the constant and incessant extremists, homegrown terrorism and fundamentalists news on the television is boring the fuck out of me, that's just the local stuff and not what's going on overseas, and that's on top of all the local shooting stabbing, drug deals and protesting protestors news. Basically it all amounts to a very boring and lacklustre waste of time. I think that's probably because a lot of the related victim/culprit selfie pics they show are never nearly as interesting or amazing as the few celeb selfies that I find particularly interesting. (Although I should add that some of them are amusing to be honest. You know, they'll usually add a Facebook or Twitter selfie pic (...******* from such and such address or no fixed address etc) and sometimes they are good for a chuckle to brighten up your day. Good news stories to watch while having your morning keksi and coffee. (Occasionally the accompanying selfie pic interviews are classic too. "But he/she used to wipe the old peoples bums and gave sponge baths for free on weekends, and even took bunnies to the blind children's school handing out candies and went to church twice on Sundays, why would anyone do this to dear sweet *******? ) lol, they're always innocent dear sweet sugar topped such and such mutant fuckos, hilarious. Why even include them in the news at all?, just throw them in the entertainment segment right from the start. So anyway on to something else, something completely different yet illuminating and interesting, and something even still a little holiday-ish.

These few photos I'm throwing in are nothing too important or particularly amazing. (I'm trying to stay away from the more exciting events and happenings going on because frankly it doesn't make me feel better after posting them, this is strictly just information solely for the benefit of the reader)

So the first pics are updated views of the work going on at the new Zagreb Airport terminal, it's good to see that construction is going according to plan and that the 331 million euros project will be up and running in about a year from now. It's been on the back burner for years, but then that world economic crisis happened, then the bidding process/paperwork, technical details etc and so on.

With over 13 million tourists arriving to Croatia in 2015, it's important that the capital city has a state of the art up to date modern airport facility. According to 2014 statistics the top-5 foreign visitors to Croatia in terms of overall numbers were from Germany (24 %), Slovenia (11 %), Austria (9 %), the Czech Republic and Italy (both 8 %) and probably surprising to many, it has actually been the large numbers of visitors from China, Japan and Koreans that has been the fastest growing segment. (Which is good, because lotsa hot single ladies from the far east is good for Croatia's image, there's much worse things to be crawling around) When completed, just this terminal will be able to handle five million passengers a year, increasing to 8 million through planned expansions in subsequent years.

This new airport, will be named after Croatia's first modern era President, Franjo Tuđman, when it's officially in operation is where you will be landing, the current Pleso Airport terminal on the other side of the airport grounds will then be used just for the increasing number of low cost charter flights and public aircraft/helicopters etc. You can hit the link below for more background information, statistics and media, including my own personal commentary regarding airport security topics, like where to station the armed soldiers and snipers, security attack dogs, which stores and shops the new terminal should have, etc.

*Updated photos from the official grand opening at photos-of-day-new-zagreb-airport

...And below are just some snapshots of kids skating around in the town of Pula, which is located in the north western coastal Istra region of Croatia. This is not particularly amazing or irregular, but mostly just because the images were taken in Pula, and of course most people will usually immediately just think of the summer time images (example). Same goes for when similar events take place in nearby Opatija.

This skating scene is part of the overall Advent holiday celebrations and the simultaneous older winter solstice/pagan events and festivities that take place in Croatia, in pretty well all the cities and towns during this time of year, and many other places in Europe also. You will usually find outdoor public skating going on there also.

El Niño is ruining the more snowy scenes this year in Croatia and large parts of Europe, they've already cancelled FIS World Cup ski racing events in Austria, Germany, France, Slovenia, Switzerland, Norway, Romania and Italy due to lack of snow (and around here some people are wearing shorts) It was promising as there was snowfall in Pula and the area already in November, but there is hope yet as colder temperatures and snow is being forecasted around the new year, good to know. Hopefully I'll have some more of those cool snowy winter scenes before the season is over.

These are just some updated pics from Zagreb a few days later. I like showing the less well known facts and images so I had to throw them in.. This may sound like a strange titled post to most, but nonetheless it's true. Over the past few weeks a lot of the local entertainment shows and show hosts have moved on to the usual, again all about who's fucking who and wearing what in in Hollywood again, who's got the bling and booty and diss on the other celebs, suited television men gossip critics and their Beibers buttocks talk, so and so's new selfie pics and who's seen the new Star Wars movie the most times interviews since yesterdays official opening day, but to me this is more interesting and important.

I don't think I have to remind people about the events of November 13th in Paris, (you can click here if you do need a refresher though) so I'm not going to get all analytical and political/theological or add pics and videos from the Paris attacks. Let's just say that their upcoming European Tour and Zagreb concert is a big middle finger to mind control cults/sects and Muslim extremists and terrorists wherever they are to be found, and even just plain ol' fuckos in general, so it's a good thing.

Soon after the bloody carnage many entertainment section writers and music critics were expressing doubts that they would ever tour again, or even implying that it was the end of the rock band permanently, which would have made the suicide terrorists victors, as demented and absurd in logic as that sounds. (We are talking here about subversive mind control cults & deranged religious sects of the highest echelons you have to remember, reason and reality does not apply many times in these instances).

Example of what I'm talking about, stopping the tour is exactly what the terrorists wanted, we simply must not and can not let the terrorists and mind control cults win. Image: www.thestar.com.

The bands bizarre and tragic Paris concert was like nothing experienced before, it was like a few weeks worth of your local rap and hiphop club/bar shootings and ghetto hood shootings and then various other cafe and mall shootings but all rolled into one instance, all happening in a concert hall in the span of just a few minutes. A terrible and ghastly series of events for people who just wanted to listen to music and enjoy the start of their weekend. So it's good to know that the band has decided to hit the touring road again after such a short time, and so not let the Muslim terrorists and psychos/cultists win. The tour now is not about money or ticket sales at all, but rather about finishing what needs to be finished.....for freedom and civilization.

Moments before the shootings at their Paris concert.

Yep, after all, it is these same qualities and principles that Croatia was built on over the centuries, the same qualities and principles of what America is and what it was truly built on too on after all. Yep, just like Croatia. Throughout Croatian history over the centuries we too have had to battle all kinds of jihads, extremists and threats to our freedom, even up to until very recently with Serbs performing similar massacres all over the place in the 90's, at times through the centuries the incursions threatened Croatia's and even Europe's very existence, so I know what I'm talking about. Actually, this post isn't even about just their upcoming Zagreb concert, it's about much more than just that. It's really about freedom, civilization and battling the mind control cults/sects in their various forms, tyranny, tyrants and tyrannical philosophies in whatever form they appear in.

Poster for their originally scheduled December 1st, 2015 concert in Zagreb.

One could say that this upcoming continuation of their tour actually embodies the real America, and they they are the real Americans. Because when you really think about it, it's something that America's founding fathers would be proud of and applaud also. Yep, America's founding fathers would likewise without a doubt give this Eagles of Death Metal tour 2 thumbs up and a blessing, and they would probably be at the concert if they could rise from their graves like zombie ex-presidents, probably even wear their concert tee and have some beers.

Anyway, their upcoming show at Zagreb's Tvornica Kulture music hall takes place just 3 days after their return to Paris make up show, and I guarantee there will be no threats or chants of "Allahu Akbar" before, during or after their Zagreb gig or any related shooting either. If you're in the area you should definitely check out this show....for freedom and to battle mind control cults/sects of course.

Like the song says..."To arms citizens! Form your battalions! Let's march! Let's march! So that the impure blood should water the furrows of our fields!....". A fitting new modern day mantra against the impure blood of the foreign anarcho-humanoid mutant subversives (as well as crypto-commie bolsheviks) and terrorists to save the civilized world.

(Supplementary information: For those unfamiliar, I should make it clear that this band are not Death Metal genre, it's just a name and they play mainly rock/alternative, besides they are automatically disqualified because they play a cover version of Duran Duran. Sort of like how head cheese is not really cheese and Iceland is not really made of ice).

Eugène Delacroix's Liberty Leading the People (La Liberté guidant le peuple), Croatians too have always supported their own goals for sovereignty, freedom, progress, civilization and of course art galleries, various pastries, sauces and entrées etc.

Some rainy concert footage from a show earlier this year at Zagreb's INmusic Festival.

What the heck, just one official band video. Because you actually will see plenty of bikinis at beaches in Croatia also, it's true. (As well as these eagles being cooler than the Serbian eagles in Ukraine, I think so anyway)

Lastly, since on the topic of rock bands (and it's my blog anyway), I think this local Croatian band from the city of Rijeka would be a good consideration as an opening act for their Zagreb gig, just saying. (I've got a list of a bunch of Croatian bands worth considering actually). More about the band Father HERE and HERE.

Photos Of The Day: Zagreb Cafe Opens Smallest Ice Rink In Europe For Advent 2015

Well, all the constant and incessant extremists, homegrown terrorism and fundamentalists news on the television is boring the fuck out of me, that's just the local stuff and not what's going on overseas, and that's on top of all the local shooting stabbing, drug deals and protesting protestors news. It all amounts to a very boring and lacklustre waste of time. So on to something else, something completely different yet quirky and interesting, something holiday-ish.

There were some recent interesting stories and noteworthy sports accomplishments I was thinking about posting, but I've been trying to stay away from sport themed posts for a while also, so as to not come across as just merely a sporto, because I want to give information to the reader that will make them a better rounded person, more knowledgeable about Croatian stuff and so more cosmopolitan, urbane and a more worldly informed and well balanced specimen, to show that even the smallest ice rinks matter. (After all, there's so much more to Croatia and life than just always kicking. chasing, catching and dropping the balls all the time)

Anyway, these few pics caught my interest. Nothing particularly important at all, and quite unimportant actually, yet interesting and not something you see all that often. As part of the recently started up Advent in Zagreb festivities and events, a much less well known and tucked away on a side street ice rink also opened up it seems.

At the terrace of the Velvet Cafe & Gallery, away from the busy city center and located on Dežmanićeva ulica (Dežmanova street), probably the smallest and cutest ice rink in Europe was made yesterday, (and maybe even in the whole world). It will be open for the whole rest of the holiday season, a little temporary world of fantasy far away from concrete, city noise and downtown traffic. a piece of your childhood come to life surrounded by forests and evergreen trees, back to a time before it got all fucked up and filled with pointless miscreants, travelling subversives and mind control cults and garbage scum of various sorts,

If you don't know what Advent in Zagreb is, or the similar Advent traditions elsewhere in Europe, then just click onto my recent Advent in Zagreb post which pretty well explains it all, or www.adventzagreb.com. I like posting stories like this, the less well known stories, facts and images that go unnoticed by most. All the larger events and locations get plenty of exposure, but these amusing and unknown places and events should also be exposed, that's the way I see it.

It sure is a pretty cool holiday scene though, walking down the street at night and then coming across this miniature ice-rink with the decorations and lights, a pretty creative idea and the locals in the neighbourhood also seem to have gotten a kick out of it and found it amusing. Maybe before coming across this post you thought that there is no way in hell that Croatia has cafes with miniature ice rinks, but now you can plainly see that we certainly do. (And like I mentioned at a previous cafes in Split post, some of these cafes/bars/restaurants are places where some very important contracts and assignments are agreed upon, agreements that affect many lives and people in various parts of this spinning piece of dirt in space, sometimes saving lives and sometimes even saving civilization, lots of people don't know that either) I don't know how much they paid the girl to figure skate in the photos, they probably just gave her free cookies or pastries, which is still a pretty good deal actually. On that note, behold Europe's smallest ice rink...

This one I came across at the cafe's Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Velvet-Café, nobody is skating in this one, but still.

Oh btw, these guys are just playing the trombones for that that holiday music effect, they are NOT travelling subversive mind control trombone cult/sect members.

As an extra bonus and related piece of information, Zagreb just a few days ago hosted the 48th Golden Pirouette figure skating competition at the historic Dom Sportiva arena, an annual figure skating competition that's been held annually since 1967. (Aside from Croatian figure skaters, also competing at the Golden Pirouette were national teams from Russia, the United States, Italy, France and Japan) And probably unknown to most, even the current Croatian Presidents daughter, 14 year old daughter Katarina Kitarović also competed, a couple pics below. (However, It's not known at this point whether she will be skating at the above Velvet Cafe ice rink over the holidays, although she very well might if the cafe throws in a free freshly made huge višnjasta torta sa sirom) More pics and info at the links.

And lastly some cool related information, with Zagreb actually chosen as the Best Christmas Market in Europe by various travellers. The Croatian capital was chosen from over 20 other nominated cities including London, Vienna, Berlin, Stockholm, Strasbourg, Brussels, Manchester, Nürnberg and others. A total of 101,703 votes from 176 countries were received. This is good to know because it just goes to show you that travellers appreciate efforts by the various cities to bring holiday magic at this time of year.
